Born out of years of frustration, AÉRA (yes — a nod to Éire) was created to solve one simple problem: making a hoodie warm enough to handle Irish weather without freezing in it.

For five winters, I wore the same hoodie from a well-known brand. I owned others, but that one was always the default. Even when I bought the exact same style and brand in a different colour — and paid over €100 — the warmth and consistency just wasn’t there. That’s when I realised something was missing.

So I designed and made two hoodies — just for me.

Not long after, I realised I wasn’t alone. Friends kept saying the same thing: they were always layering up, even after putting on a hoodie. I never understood the whole “mid-layer” idea — a hoodie should do the job on its own.

A close friend jumped in, and we took a small leap, ordering 50 of each colour. Five were taken immediately by other close friends — without our consent. That’s when it became clear this wasn’t just a personal problem.

And that’s how AÉRA was born.

We've no inspirational taglines (yet), We’re not trying to go viral — and honestly, we wouldn’t know how. Despite the name, we’re not here to oversell the “Irish brand” angle either. We just want the quality to speak for itself.

The hoodies are of course unisex (what hoodie isn't?), but since this started as a very specific men’s problem, the initial fits lean slightly more masculine — for now.

So that’s where we’re at. We’re focused on making thick, warm, high-quality hoodies — built for Irish (and similar) weather, but comfortable enough to live in.

Maybe we’ll do more drops down the line. For now - we're just glad to be warm.
